World Down Syndrome Day

Today is March 21, which is World Down Syndrome Day! We celebrate today because Down syndrome (Trisomy 21) is when someone has a 3rd 21st Chromosome instead of 2. This doesn’t make that individual any better or less than anyone else. It is just how God made them, in His image. People with Down syndrome can read, do math, navigate individual travel, work, and add amazing value to our society. They just need to be included and given the opportunity. Today I want to celebrate the generations of all the moms, dads, professionals, and individuals with Down syndrome who fought for the rights, value, and advocated the abilities of people like my sweet Tommy D, who today we celebrate a #alilextra He has added so much joy and love to our family. His future is so bright and I’m excited to see what is in store for him.
